Restoration of The Argory ‘High Mosses’ Raised Bog

Restoration of The Argory ‘High Mosses’ Raised Bog

by catchmentcare / Wednesday, 03 February 2021 / Published in news

Work is progressing on the restoration of the ‘High Mosses’ to an active raised bog at The Argory, a National Trust site near Dungannon. The scheme is supported through the CatchmentCare Community Incentive Scheme (CIS) and involves raising the water table, blocking drains, and controlling invasive trees and scrub. The National Trust, in co-operation with the project partners, has developed and promoted opportunities for volunteers and local community groups to take part in activities as part of the project delivery, as well as providing opportunities for guided walks/visits to the Argory Mosses and wider Argory estate, which borders the Blackwater River. A community event, materials and equipment as well as an interpretive panel are also being funded through the CatchmentCARE funded work
