Four new videos have recently been produced by local wildlife expert Karl Hamilton from Mantella Environmental Education for use by local community groups involved in CatchmentCARE’s Community Incentive Scheme. Karl had organised and run two Bioblitz training events for local Blackwater groups Glaslough Tidy Towns (Co. Armagh) and Wildlife friends of the Callan (Co. Armagh) in 2020 during a period of temporary easing of COVID-19 restrictions on social gatherings. The planned community oriented Bioblitz days planned couldn’t take place due to further lockdowns, so Karl got creative and instead filmed a series of online educational videos exploring local terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity. The videos focus on woodlands in autumn, woodland invertebrates, blanket & raised bogs and aquatic invertebrates and aim to educate families within each community area on how important our rivers and associated habitats are. The videos can be found on the CatchmentCARE Youtube channel at: • Woodlands in Autumn – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRSvWBYLvxo • Woodland Invertebrates – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WVxSTRZM68 • Blanket & Raised Bogs – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ia87vdslIA • Aquatic Invertebrates – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62kOTqbK_b8
