A number of clean up campaigns recently took place in the Arney catchment.
Access to a private shoreline was granted by the landowners to facilitate the removal of rubbish from Lough MacNean Upper. A huge thanks to local volunteers, Shannon Gaels GAA club and Cavan County Council for their support and hard work.
Five volunteers from Loughan House were happy to help with the Arney Spring Clean when the project was explained to them by the Chief Officer. They collected 8 bin bags, several broken pallets and debris from the shoreline and adjacent woodland. A massive thanks to all involved!
A big thanks also to Portora Boat Club who used their CIS funded safety launch boats to collect 6 bin bags and a land drain from Upper Lough MacNean. Local knowledge and support was given by the MacNean and District Angling Club.
